Writers Guild at Bloomington

Writers Guild at Bloomington
This morning a friend popped up on Facebook to invite me to the Writers Guild at Bloomington afternoon Open House and Open Mic event.  Sure!  Sounds great, I typed.  then I dove into the bathtub, dressed, picked out something to read and headed out.  Fun event.  Got a run down on the first year of the guild’s existence, snacked on treats, visited with some writers I know and some I just met, listened as writers read and shared a piece of my own writing.  Fun.

I came home and joined the group through their online form.  Membership is free.  They have lots of writing events throughout the year.  Looking forward to a lively time.

Oh… and I invited the writers to participate in the Bloomington Screenwriting Community.  Feels good.

OK.. this was not my NaNoWriMo year

leave a comment »

freedomIt’s the end of the month and this clearly was not a big writing month for me.  And that’s just fine.  I took a long road trip, worked hard at the Eden Energy Medicine Certification Program, etc.  I’m cool with that.

Will report back in a while.. soon as the writing starts to actually arise.

I have a feeling that this is all part of my movement to be utterly free in everything I do.  Not really wanting to be tied down to anything… even anything as fancy free as NaNoWrimo.

4 days: 50,000 words

leave a comment »

Dashboard LightsBack from my 2 week road trip… rarin’ to go.  50,000 words in FOUR days.  OK.  I can do it.

NaNoWriMo the compressed way.  I’ve done 20,00 over a Labor Day weekend before.  We’ll see what I can do in these next 4 days.

I felt inspired to write while driving home and made various scribbled notes.  Perhaps they’ll amount to something intriguing!

Hope all the other NaNoWriMoers are finding the writing flowing sweetly… and as fast as possible.

Barbara

Oh my goodness… what’s going on with my writing?!

Bloomington Screenwriting Community

Bloomington Screenwriting Community

I haven’t posted here in days.  What’s up?  Well, the NaNoWriMo process has been flopping around on the floor completely neglected.  I have had other writing related experiences dynamically in play however.

Tuesday was the second gathering of the Bloomington Screenwriting Community.  Lively conversation about script structure, originality, NaNoWriMo, a recent read around of one writer’s screenplay, the possibility of an upcoming writing gathering at the local Steak ‘N Shake, identifying the right form for a project (several writers have recently shifted projects from feature film to TV series or other variations like that… which seem to have liberated them to move forward with gusto), and other topics I’m not thinking of at the moment.  Two hours didn’t seem to be enough.  The meeting carried on in the lobby for almost another hour as people lingered in conversation together.  Looking forward to future gatherings… as well as sharing online in our Facebook group.

What else?  Well, I’m working on a new web presence … and have been writing text for that.  My web designs suffer from some of the same challenges my books and screenplays face:  I see endless possibilities and somehow think I can follow all potential design pathways! Eventually I’ll find my way forward in all these creative endeavors.

Eden Energy Medicine Foundations Program - Indiana

EEM Foundations Program

Oh.. and I’ve been intensively coordinating details and materials for the 2012 – 2013 Eden Energy Medicine Foundations Program I’ll be teaching in Bloomington, Indiana.  First time this major energy medicine training program will be taught in the Hoosier State.  I’m excited.

And… preparing for a road trip to Phoenix, where I’ll be teaching Eden Energy Medicine in Class 7.  I leave tomorrow.

Oh… and meeting with Jessica Mott about offering sessions and workshops at her Thrive Wellness Center in Bloomington, which I intend to start when I return from my road trip.  Wonderful. I look forward to that.  It’s been a while since I had a local place to engage clients one to one and in small groups.  One thing I’m planning is creating an energies for writing workshop series.  Not sure exactly of the name, but that’s the gist of it.  I LOVE to support people’s writing and authentic creative expression.

I still feel that the NaNoWriMo 50,000 words will emerge.  I have confidence about that.  And I know I’m feeling energetic and connected to the flow of things.

So… that’s what’s up.  If I get some chores under my belt early enough today, I can even get some writing done before I leave town tomorrow.

Hope your writing and creative endeavors are flourishing…

One week into NaNoWriMo and I’m realizing…

Fire

... moving into deeper territory....

… this year NaNoWriMo (for me) stands for National Non-fiction Writing Month.  And non-fiction in this case means MEMOIR.

OK.  I’ll write about my energy healing and shamanic explorations… and I’ll share insights about how I engage energies.  This is a book about love and joy and vitality.  Ultimately it is a book about creativity.

So… I’ll get started on that and crank out 2,174 words each day to stay on track.  And I’ll count my 5000+ words I’ve already written… if I need them.

The fiction writing can show up when it is ready…. cause it’s really just not showing up now.  And I’m into Struggle Abatement.  No efforting… plenty of juicy energy, but no force.

Barbara

I don’t know my novel yet at all

It’s time for me to acknowledge that my novel isn’t showing up, because I’m not giving it my clear and undivided attention.  Time to pay attention.  Hi, there, Novel.  Let’s get to know each other, shall we?

I’d LOVE to get to know you thoroughly.  Let’s make a date.

Barbara
